Muhammad
“I am a refugee in the UK, recently granted leave to remain. I have been street homeless on many occasions, beginning when I was a teenager in Sudan… I was trafficked into Libya and arrived in the UK in 2020. Now I have the right to remain here, I will be moved from my home office accommodation to a rented property very soon.”
Muhammad has been exploited and overlooked for the majority of his life. He has fought to have a home here in the UK and he needs our support to help him build a solid foundation. Muhammad needs to furnish his new accommodation but he lacks the financial capital to achieve this goal.
£600 would allow him to buy a bed, essential white goods such as a fridge, a washing machine, a cooker and small home furnishings to make his accommodation comfortable.
“Due to my circumstances I have worked as a cleaner and I have looked after animals but I have not had the opportunity to do paid work. I’m keen to take on any suitable paid work that will fit with my medical condition and medical appointments for my type 1 diabetes.”
Muhammad’s Support Worker: “Muhammad is very vulnerable. He has been traumatised by his past experiences. He is unable to control his diabetes and he is experiencing serious side effects, despite his young age.”
Muhammad does not have access to financial support or savings. He doesn’t have a network of support or family that could help him in his time of need. He does not have access to other grant opportunities and the Greater Change community is the only support available to Muhammad.
Your donation will enable Muhammad to buy essential furniture and white goods but most importantly your generosity will empower Muhammad to create financial security and stabilise his life for the first time since he was a child in Sudan.
“I am so pleased and relieved to be granted asylum in the UK and want to work and contribute to this society. Thank you for any help you are able to give me.”
