Alan
In order to succeed long-term, he needs our support to raise enough funds to purchase a piece of equipment that will turn written text into audio, enabling him to ‘read’ independently.
Alan is diagnosed with emotional behaviour disorder and clinical depression, as well as registered blind. Throughout his life, he struggled to cope with his disorders with little to no support, which eventually led to his homelessness. He spent a decade being placed in various hostels and emergency accommodation, moving from place to place. Alan was sleeping on the floor at Oxford’s night shelter when he was finally offered a place to settle – his own home.
With support, Alan has been able to rebuild the foundations in his life and is now in a position to be able to build further and look for employment. His goal is to train to be an accountant, and he has started an AAT level 2 course which will give him the qualification needed to start his new journey.
With limited funds, Alan cannot raise the funds alone. Our support to purchase the equipment will have a massive impact on Alan’s mental and emotional health, as well as helping him use his time more efficiently and build his self-esteem.
With your support, Alan can continue his positive path forward and secure long-term employment.
With your support, Alan can continue to build his independence and leave homelessness behind for good.
