Amanda
Amanda and her young child have been living in temporary accommodation since a relationship breakdown that forced her to leave her home. The uncertainty and isolation of the circumstances have put increased mental and financial strain on Amanda and had a significant emotional impact.
Throughout this time, she’s been engaging with support services and bidding for social housing, and has recently been offered a permanent home. However, after her period of homelessness and time in emergency accommodation, she is unable to afford the lump sum deposit needed in advance to secure the property.
Amanda and her support worker applied to Greater Change for £480 to cover rent in advance, which would enable her to secure the property and move into safe and stable accommodation, breaking the cycle of homelessness for her and her child.
